Ransomware – Don’t be held hostage

LockImagine that your files have been encrypted and you have to pay if you ever want to see them again! This is what ransomware such as CryptoLocker and CryptoWall will do to your files if you get infected.

How can I protect myself?

  • Always keep a backup for your data. Use your CommonFile and HomeFile shares to store your TCU data? Do not store files you cannot aford to lose on your local drive.
  • Make sure to update your operating system and 3rd party software like Java, Flash, Acrobat Reader, Firefox, Chrome, etc.
  • Do not open unsolicited email attachments, links or pictures in emails.
  • Check that you have anti-virus protection and are keeping it up-to-date.
